ANCIENT ROLE MODELS FOR CONTEMPORARY WOMEN
(For Women Only)
Taught by Reni Horban - Choir Room
In this post feminist era there is a confusing mix of so-called role models for women. Do we look to Hilary Clinton, martha Stewart or Britney Spears? There has to be something more for the Christian woman. Instead of modelling our lives after women in the world, this study goes back to women whose stories are told in the pages of Scripture. Beginning with Eve, we will delve into the lives of a stunning array of women. They include homemakers, political leaders, victims of abuse, church leaders, business women, widows, and even royalty. Most of these women led ordinary lives that became extraordinary by a life changing encounter with God. Come and discover unchanging principles from God's Word that can shape every woman into a reflection of Christ.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE
Taught by Brent Diaz - Room 108
"Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the things that have been accomplished among us...it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you...that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught." With these words, Luke, the Gentile doctor, begins his fascinating account of Jesus' life, death and resurrection from his unique point of view. In this devotional study, we will draw practical life lessons from Luke's well researched account and apply them to our daily lives as Christians. Along the way we will marvel at the grace and love of Jesus, be awed by His wisdom and power, and see glimpses of ourselves in the reactions of those who met Him.
A PRACTICAL LOOK AT THE BOOK OF REVELATION
Taught by Pastor Bryan - Room 109
Revelation touches us at the point of our despair, our weariness of this world, our future shock, our fear of persecution, our journey as we live in this society. Revelation is quite possibly the most relevant book of the Bible for this moment in history. This adult elective will focus on a practical look at the Revelation of Jesus Christ. A class for all ages, for those who know much, those who don't know much, or those who just think they know much. We will venture through Revelation chapter by chapter and hear what God is teaching us about our church, ourselves, our Savior and the future.
BIBLICAL ENCOURAGEMENT FOR IMPROVING YOUR PARENTING
Taught by Pastor Kent - West Room
Many parents have high aspirations for their children. But the highest of all aspirations should be guiding children to God's plan for their lives. They belong first and foremost to Him. The purpose of this course is to give parents Biblical encouragement for raising children in a world hostile to faith in Jesus Christ. Some of the topics considered will be: On Loan From God, The Role of Scripture in Your Parenting, Discovering and Encouraging Your Child's Uniqueness, Fragile: Handle with Care, When Your Child Strays, Discipline From a Biblical Perspective, Protecting Your Child From Danger, Monitoring Social Influences, etc. Along the way we will have opportunity to interact constructively and critically with popular models of parenting such as those presented by James Dobson and Growing Kids God's Way.

THE HEART OF A SERVANT LEADER
Led by Pastor Kent – The Family Room
The modern concept of Servant Leadership started with Robert Greenleaf, who published his book "The Servant as Leader" in 1970. However, the concept is thousands of years older than this. Jesus taught His disciples: Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant...The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. We will follow the theme of Servant Leadership in the testimony and teaching of several contemporary Christian leaders. First on the list is the controversial President of the United States, George Bush. Also up for consideration are well known leaders such as Jack Hayford, Jim Cymbala, Ruth Bell Graham and Bill Hybels. Join us as we combine video biography with a study of Bible texts which have proved vital in the lives of these Servant Leaders.

PSALMS OF DAVID (Women’s Study)
Led by Joanne Wagner – Room 109
The Psalms of David reflect deep matters of the heart. Joy. Anger. Distress. Hope. Trust. These and many more emotions are expressed by David in his written prayers. We will study specific Psalms which David wrote in response to the challenging and difficult situations which he experienced. Such Psalms were written for people who . . . ask why good things happen to bad people . . . look for God when the bottom drops out . . . face crises with expectation of God’s best . . . receive forgiveness and begin again after failure. We can meet not only ourselves in David’s Psalms but our Lord who waits to give us new vision and strength for life and service.
